On 4/10 Thursday evening, OLC attended Meetup event “WebRTC: Server side solutions & Wix.com shares Twilio client WebRTC successes” hosted by Twilio in their spacious San Francisco headquarter on Harrison Street.
The Meetup attracted the bay area “Twilions” to learn more about the technical server side solutions that Twilio can offer on WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication), an API that supports browser-to-browser applications for voice calling, video chat, and P2P file sharing without plugins.
Speakers of the evening included Brian Tarricone, Twilio's Lead Software Engineer and Justin Van Koten, client representative from Wix.com.
Brian Tarricone gave the crowd an overview and evolution of WebRTC. He also talked about adapting WebRTC to server-side solutions. The technical talk highlighted the different ways Twilio’s customers are using their WebRTC products such as Twilio SMS and Twilio Voice on platforms like smartphones and Google Chrome.
Justin Van Koten from Wix.com, also shared his experience with the Twilio Client WebRTC integration. He mentioned how the website-based Twilio applications help share video file easily.
Twilio is changing communications forever, empowering software people to build the future. We virtualize all the infrastructure needed - hardware, software, carrier connectivity, and phone numbers - in a cloud-based, on-demand, global environment, exposed through a simple-to-use communications API platform. We make it easy to bring voice, messaging and VoIP into any app (web, mobile, etc).
To date, Twilio has helped millions of people who ride Uber, who buy ticket on Stubhub, and who need some home repairing helps from The Home Depot through cloud-based API platform.
