On Wednesday, April 30th, OLC attended “The Future of Innovation in a Networked World” held at Cooper Union in the Great Hall, at 7 East 7th Street, New York City, NY. The evening was made possible by the New York Entrepreneurial Business Network (NYEBN).
The Future of Innovation Panel included Joi Ito, Director of the MIT Media Lab, Erik Nordlander, Engineering Partner at Google Ventures, Mike Perlis, CEO and President of Forbes, Jeanne Sullivan, Founder and GP of StarVest Partners, Alex Diaz, VP of Product Management at Yahoo!, Philippe Buhannic, Co-Founder and CEO of TradingScreen, Teresa A. Dahlberg, Dean of Albert Nerken School of Engineering, Chief Academic Officer of The Cooper Union. The evening was moderated by Cristina Dolan, MIT Media Lab Alumna, Co-Founder OneMain and organized by The MIT Club of New York, The MIT Enterprise Forum of New York City and TradingScreen in celebration of creativity in computer science education.
The evening was dedicated to the celebration of living in a connected world, through advancements in computer science and open source tools. The “Dream it. Code it. Win it.” competition celebrates creativity and innovation amongst the brightest in computer science at the high school and college level. Winners received a variety of oversized check prizes: First place received $20k, second place $15k, third place $10k, fourth place $5k sponsored by the Tekserve Prize for Women in Technology, and $5k in “Qualified Participant Certificate” for all innovation applicants.
