January 8th, 2014 The French (tech) Connection Hosted by: VentureOutNY


On January 8, 2014, VentureOutNY partnered with Effective Capital to bring together The French (tech) Connection hosted at the Greenhouse in Manhattan, NYC. Helping to enable ease of launch and success for international startups in New York, VentureOutNY played host to ten startups native to France presenting 1 minute flash pitches and one-on-one 4 minute follow-up Q&A sessions before a panel of investors. Opening keynotes on pioneering entrepreneurship in America were given by Gaspard de Dreuzy, Co-founder & Chief Innovation Officer of Kapitall and CEO and Co-Founder of The Ladders.


Below is a brief rundown of the French startup Founders and brief pitch decks. 

CEO Cyril Hersch and Head of Business Development, Gregory Wrobel, presented Apila (http://signup.apila.fr), an iOS mobile app that informs drivers of real time parking offers both “on and off streets.” 

CEO Jonathan Cherki presented ContentSquare (http://www.content-square.fr), as a service to “increased your conversion rate” with a full SAAS model. They aspire to be the future of testing optimization.

Founder Hannah Oiknine presented Babbler (http://www.babbler.fr), a cross-sector site she describes as “PR for the future.” 

CEO Bastien Sannac presented Meludia (http://www.meludia.com), a way to revolutionize how we learn and appreciate music. 

Co-Founder Alain Mevellec presented Sellsy (http://www.sellsy.com), a SAAS management software solution for businesses.

Co-Founder Pierre Brouder of Bobler (http://www.bobler.com) features a social-vocal messaging app to hear your friends. 

Founder Jean-Philippe Bertin of somhome (http://www.somhome.com), likens his real estate site to a dating site to help improve apartment search.

Founder Francois-Alexandre Glaudet of Teemeo (http://www.temeo.com), presented a virtual project assistant online.

Co-Founder Fred Bonelli presented The Art Place, a site dedicated to helping artists sell their art currently with 1,200 registered artists. 

An experienced investor panel was brought together the evening and included Jonathan Drillings at Comcast Ventures, David Teten, Partner at ff Venture Capital, Christophe Garnie, Founding Partner at Spark Labs, and Phillippe Finkelstein, Founder and Angel Investor at Cross Border Network. The New York Regional Organizer of Fwd.us, Luna Atamian, also urged attendees to take action on immigration reform. Also in attendance was Anthony Yeremian, Partner of Jarvis Software.
