On Tuesday, June 10th, OLC attended the month of June’s “Startup Essentials” held at the WeWork offices at 175 Varick Street, New York, NY. Speaker Joe Meyer, former CEO of HopStop, spoke about his experiences building HopStop and lessons learned along the way. The evening was made possible by Toro Labs, SpacesNY, and WeWor for offices.
Joe Meyer spoke about the creation process of HopStop, the challenges and life after acquisition by Apple. Formerly the VP of Business Development at Quigo and GM at eBay, he spoke about his experiences launching new businesses, the constant iteration and testing process every entrepreneur has to undergo in growing a customer base and usage, finding a sustainable revenue model, team recruitment, and the process of scaling. Perhaps the biggest change comes in life after acquisition, where there are other priorities than constant improvements to HopStop.
Meyer’s latest is a non-profit called ExecThread.org.
