November 11th, 2014 MEFNY: Online Identity: A Fireside Chat with Judith Donath

On Tuesday, November 11th, 2014, OLC attended “MITEFNY’s Online Identity: A Fireside Chat with Judith Donath.” Hosted at the Offices of Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz located at 488 Madison Avenue, New York City, the evening’s conversation was had with Judith Donath, educator and author.

The evening’s discussion raised a number of interesting threads concerning questions around online identities, the case for or against pseudonyms in a modernity where our names are forever linked with our words and acquaintances. What then is the role of privacy, consequence, and ‘the right to be forgotten’ in a world pervasive of technology?

Judith Donath is the Founder of MIT Media Lab’s Social Media Group and is the author of the book, The Social Machine: Designs for Living Online.
