Last Wednesday, OLC had the the opportunity to attend #StartupFix, an underground gallery space tucked awa in the basement of Lower East Side bar CultureFix. Three startup founders presented to a packed room about their latest innovations around art, fashion, and community.
First up to demo was Article, helping you discover art from up and coming emerging artists around the world. It is an online site that allows you to curate art to your own taste and showcase it to the world by sharing curations online. Art at Artsicle is available for purchase or on monthly rental.
Next up to present was Manufacture New York, a fashion incubator giving independent fashion designers the resources they need to streamline production whilst transforming local manufacturing. Their original location is in the Garment Center equipped with an industrial sewing room, work stations providing creative suites, pattern making and 3D modeling software, as well as a backroom for dyeing and screen printing. They are prepping to open a 40,000 square-foot facility in Brooklyn's Sunset Park in 2014 available to 28 manufacturers.
Last up to present was Treatings, a networking platform making it easy to propose informational coffee meetings with local professionals. Imagine an online dating site, but without the dating—Treatings helps people interested in connecting offline do so in a professional context through proposed informational sessions in the city.
